National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Northfield Square Mall in Bourbonnais. This will be a DRIVE-THRU drop off event. We will collaborate with local law enforcement and community partners to allow the public an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted medications from their homes.

Hi, we are hoping all families with students in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program can join us for a night of connecting, celebrating and sharing on Thursday, October 19th at Shabbona Elementary School. We will gather at 6:00 pm, enjoy some food from El Burrito Loco and learn about the programs we have to offer at Bourbonnais Elementary School District 53. We will also have access to the gym so the kids will have plenty of fun as well. Please see this brochure for more details in Spanish and English. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1p-RkzHZLVsYupNqZhda85Tjzjc47qRBJBxa8gjg1L-Q/edit?usp=sharing
Our Charlotte's Web Scarecrow has been a huge success! Thanks to Clifton Library for donating hundreds of books for our entry. The books have been flying off the shelves. Come see our 1st place 🥇scarecrow and grab a free book.📖

A huge shoutout to our local Target for donating a box truck full of school supplies. Our school district was overwhelmed by your generosity. Gail was our donation Rockstar.
We appreciate all your support!

Positive Vibes are CONTAGIOUS❣

We kicked off the new school year with these AWESOME t-shirts for our September Employee Appreciation Event.
Nothing but POSITIVE VIBES this year!

Good Morning! We are now about 1 month away from the October 15th deadline to have all of your children's vaccinations completed. The Kankakee County Health Department is a resource you can use. Families can call 815-802-9400 to make an appointment. They have a fee schedule and costs vary depending on the vaccination. They do process insurance as well.

BESD53 buses have been delayed due to a fire alarm at the BUGC campus. Buses were held and have just been released. Please be advised this will delay all bus routes this morning. Thank you.
The Positive Vibes Tour was a HUGE success! We hope everyone felt all the love and support from the small business owners in our community who donated over $3500 in gift cards and merchandise to welcome you back. We hope you had a great first week and we're happy to have you all back!

Dear families of incoming kindergarten students, please check your email for information regarding the process for confirming your bus stop and pick up time questions. Thanks
Thanks to the Bourbonnais Public Library for a great Family Storytime Event today and thanks to Success by 6 of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties and Easterseals Jumpstart for providing free developmental screeners on the BESD 53 Family Support Bus as an offshoot to the event. We were able to screen ten children thus providing these families with an early developmental snap shot and direction for support if needed.

Teacher assignments will be available starting at 2:00 PM today, August 14th, 2023.
Attention Families: Our system that we use to take payments for registration, Revtrak, is NOW working for everyone EXCEPT 7th Grade students. If you have a current 7th grade student, you are still not able to make payments. When we have 7th grade working, we will let everyone know. Everyone else is able to make payments.
Attention families of incoming 8th graders:
International Overdose Awareness Day is August 31, 2023 and the Alliance for Substance Free Youth is having a nationally recognized speaker, Nathan Harmon, through Your Life Speaks, come to Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School to give his dynamic presentation to eighth grade students in Kankakee County. The program begins at 9:30 am and all students will be back to their home schools for lunch.
Nathan’s message to keep students from wanting to experiment with substances and the consequences that brings is powerful and comes with positive reviews from school district personnel across the country. Since August 31st will be very early in the year we would like to start the ball rolling and get permission forms completed before the end of the 2022-23 school year.
The Alliance for Substance Free Youth is a subcommittee of the Kankakee County Task Force and includes the Kankakee County Health Department, Pledge for Life Partnership, Riverside Medical Center, and Banyan Treatment Center and I-KAN Regional Office of Education's Life Education Center Program.
Please complete this form to request a seat for your child. Seats are limited and we will confirm your child's seat once we have all of the forms submitted.

Attention Families: Currently the system that we use to take payments for registration, Revtrak, is not working. We are unable to take payments at this time. Once Revtrak is up and running again, we will post notifications on Facebook as well as the District website.
Attention Families with Students Attending FREEDOM School:
Our 2 buses which took our students to Lincoln Park Zoo are stuck in traffic and may be 3:30 or later before they return to Shabbona. As soon as they return to school we will load them on their buses to get them home. If you would like to pick your student up at Shabbona a sign-out sheet will be available as soon as the buses return from the zoo. We apologize for the inconvenience.
We hope that everyone is enjoying their summer break. B53 is hard at work preparing for our students to return later this month.

BESD53 Families- New and Returning Registration is back open. We have also created a parent help page for the new system. It can be found under our Website Menu>Parent/Student Resources >Skyward Parent Help Page.
Besd53 Families - Please be advised there has been a delay in enabling Student Registration and New Student Enrollment.
Once there is an update we will be letting families know on our website. We apologize for the delay.
