Hi, we are hoping all families with students in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program can join us for a night of connecting, celebrating and sharing on Thursday, October 19th at Shabbona Elementary School. We will gather at 6:00 pm, enjoy some food from El Burrito Loco and learn about the programs we have to offer at Bourbonnais Elementary School District 53. Good Morning! We are now about 1 month away from the October 15th deadline to have all of your children's vaccinations completed. The Kankakee County Health Department is a resource you can use. Families can call 815-802-9400 to make an appointment. They have a fee schedule and costs vary depending on the vaccination. They do process insurance as well.

Thanks to the Bourbonnais Public Library for a great Family Storytime Event today and thanks to Success by 6 of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties and Easterseals Jumpstart for providing free developmental screeners on the BESD 53 Family Support Bus as an offshoot to the event. We were able to screen ten children thus providing these families with an early developmental snap shot and direction for support if needed.

Attention Families: Our system that we use to take payments for registration, Revtrak, is NOW working for everyone EXCEPT 7th Grade students. If you have a current 7th grade student, you are still not able to make payments. When we have 7th grade working, we will let everyone know. Everyone else is able to make payments.

Attention families of incoming 8th graders: International Overdose Awareness Day is August 31, 2023 and the Alliance for Substance Free Youth is having a nationally recognized speaker, Nathan Harmon, through Your Life Speaks, come to Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School to give his dynamic presentation to eighth grade students in Kankakee County. The program begins at 9:30 am and all students will be back to their home schools for lunch. Nathan’s message to keep students from wanting to experiment with substances and the consequences that brings is powerful and comes with positive reviews from school district personnel across the country. Since August 31st will be very early in the year we would like to start the ball rolling and get permission forms completed before the end of the 2022-23 school year. The Alliance for Substance Free Youth is a subcommittee of the Kankakee County Task Force and includes the Kankakee County Health Department, Pledge for Life Partnership, Riverside Medical Center, and Banyan Treatment Center and I-KAN Regional Office of Education's Life Education Center Program. Please complete this form to request a seat for your child. Seats are limited and we will confirm your child's seat once we have all of the forms submitted. https://forms.gle/Eau6myGifxQ9sWABA
