NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION DATES: May 21, 2019 June 20, 2019 July 25, 2019 All dates are from 2-7 PM at the District Office (281 W. John Casey Rd.). These are for NEW students to the district. Returning student registration starts June 6, 2019 online through Skyward Family Access.

Hi, it is going to be 80 degrees tomorrow and you are probably going to be thinking about getting in the garden. It is not too late to get involved in our Staw Bale Community garden! Congratulations to our 3rd grade Spelling Bee Champion Lohita Gampala and 2nd place finisher Lane Clary. It took 39 rounds to decide! Thanks to Mrs. Flowers, Mrs. Kremer, Mrs Skeate, Mrs. Laskey, Mrs Langlois and Mrs O'Gorman for all the hard work.

BUGC Coach Todd Dersien named 8th Grade Boys Junior High School Co-Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches' Association (IBCA). Coach Dersien led our boys to a great season including Regional and Sectional Championships and a trip to STATE! #besd53 #proudofyou

School is open in BESD#53. Roads in town are clear, temps above freezing. Be careful on driveways and walks as patches of ice remain in some places.

A reminder that Friday is a half day, schedule A dismissal. This is a change from the original calendar. Also, there is no school next Monday for Presidents' Day.

BUGC 8th Grade Boys' Basketball competes at state on Saturday!

Hi, the Bourbonnais Public Library will be closing at 5:00 pm today and will be closed all day on Wednesday January 30th. Stay warm and safe!

BESD#53 will have school Tuesday, normal schedule. It will be very cold, but the dangerous windchills set in after 6pm. We will not have any after school events except for the 8th grade regional basketball game in Kankakee. As a reminder we will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Due to inclement weather and unsafe conditions BESD#53 will be closed today (Monday), Wednesday, and Thursday of this week.

We are still evaluating the storm and potential snowfall overnight. A decision on school will be made by 5:30am dependent on snow and road conditions. There will be no zero hour at BUGC tomorrow.

BESD#53 is monitoring the upcoming week of weather. We use -30 windchill on weather.com as the threshold for canceling for the cold. As of now, we plan on holding school tomorrow. We will keep you updated. As we look at next week, it is unlikely that we will hold school Wednesday under the current forecast. Next week is Camp T week so we are preparing an alternate schedule with group one going to Camp Monday/Tuesday and group two going Thursday/Friday. This shortens the trip by a day each. We will continue to keep you updated. As always, parents should utilize their judgment with their specific situation even if school is in session. ~Dr. Hollowell

EARLY DISMISSAL! Due to heavy freezing rain from 2pm-4pm, BESD#53 will be dismissing at 12:30pm (BUGC/Liberty) and 1:15pm (K-4). There will be no PM preK today and all after-school activities are cancelled. All students will be feed before dismissal. Although this is inconvenient, we feel it is in the best interest of our students' safety for our buses to run at this earlier time. BBCHS is dismissing before us which will help with childcare needs. If you need to switch your student from bus to car pickup please call the school offices. We will have staff present to watch students until normal dismissal times if needed. ~Dr. Hollowell
