The playground work around the district is approximately 50% complete. The students are going to love the new look when they return in August.

The new playground project is underway at Liberty Intermediate. Here is a look at the walkway and the early stages of the equipment construction. The entire project will be done in about 3 weeks. The Shabbona project has also begun. We will share some photos of that site next week.

Earth Day planting ceremony at Liberty Intermediate.
Happy Earth Day! We started the morning off with ceremonial tree plantings at each school.
We partnered with Connect Roasters of Bourbonnais to show our staff we
"Appreciate them A Latte" What an amazing event this was. The Lattes were out of this world and we can't even begin to say enough good things about the Connect Roasters Team. What a great group of hardworking guys who give back to their communities!! If anyone is planning a coffee event reach out to Connect Roasters you will be amazed.

Dear BESD 53 Families, we were made aware of an incident near one of our schools this afternoon that required police action. Our school resource officer was able to provide us quick information that the incident would not impact any of our school dimissals. We did cancel outdoor practices out of an abundance of caution. Thank you.

Today the District Office celebrated Pi Day with pies for all staff members. A sweet treat to show our Infinite Appreciation for all they do. Thank you to Miguel and staff at Nana's Bakery for making 420 delicious pies.
The Bourbonnais PTA is holding an online auction to raise money for teachers and students! Over 80 items are up for auction, including gift cards to area businesses and restaurants, a ride in a fire truck, gift baskets, school privileges such as Principal for a Day, classroom popcorn or ice cream party, and a ride to school with Officer Garcia, complete with a stop at Dunkin' Donuts!
