Mrs. Bilyard visited Mrs. Martin's 2nd graders at LeVassuer. The 2nd graders were inspired to create a mixed media masterpiece influenced by French painter Henri Rousseau. He was a self-taught artist known for his vivid jungle scenes and animal paintings.
Students used basic shapes to draw, Crayola markers for watercolor techniques, and crayons for wax resist designs. Then incorporated scraps of tissue paper and construction paper to create foregrounds, middle grounds, and backgrounds for value and depth.
It was a RRRRROARING good time ART-ing!

A big thank you to Representative Jackie Haas for visiting BUGC. Representative Haas spoke to eighth grade students about her role as a representative in the General Assembly and how bills are passed and become laws. Students were engaged throughout her presentation as they are currently learning about the US Constitution. It was truly an honor to host Representative Haas.

Mr. Banas' Science Classes
Inoculation of Logs
Fresh maple and oak logs were harvested from a nearby forest. Students then counted and sorted Shittake mushroom spores purchased from a mushroom grower. Selected students were divided into groups as the drilled holes, pounded in and waxed 500 spores. Logs were brought to their new home deep into a local forest as we wait for the spores to inoculate and infest the logs an produce beautiful mushrooms
