8th grade BUGC students had the unique learning opportunity of bringing the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center to the classroom. Upon request from the History teachers, the museum sent a teaching trunk filled with stories and artifacts of Holocaust survivors from the Chicagoland area and surrounding states. One story in the trunk included a woman who was saved by Oskar Schindler! Students read their biographies, examined newspapers clippings and other artifacts, and created presentations to honor the survivors.
