Welcome Back!
In August we welcomed back our staff and students for another school year.  We are off to a great start and here are some of the reasons why...
  • With the closing for Robert Frost, we opened the year streamlined with five schools, including K-4th grades at Shabbona, Shepard, and LeVasseur.
  • PreK programs are now housed at Shepard including a new Headstart classroom.
  • We continue to lead the area in the student use of technology.  We have added chromebook flip touchscreens in our K-2 classrooms.
  • We are implementing A.L.I.C.E. safety training as recommended the FBI and Homeland Security.
  • Our staff is learning about Courageous Conversations about Race, a book by Glenn Singleton.  Our goal is to reach all of our students regardless of cultural differences and support them through these difficult times in our country.
  • We are working toward finding new ways for students to "connect".  We are looking at adding after-school programs and clubs to reach all students.
  • We have accomplished many of our goals that were set five years ago in our strategic planning process.  This winter we will set out to update our strategic plan for the next five years and will be inviting parents and community members to take part in this process.
I am excited about the future of Bourbonnais Elementary School District #53.  We have weathered the storm financially, we have balanced our budgets all four years of my tenure, and we have plans for the future growth of the district.  It is a great honor to work for all of you and to work with such a great staff.
"Excellence in all we do!"
