ADMINISTRATION

MR. BRET PIGNATIELLO
PRINCIPAL
Hello,
This will mark my seventh year as Principal at Liberty Intermediate School. In my different roles in education. I have worked with all grade levels Pk-8. I appreciate the variety in those endeavors as they have helped me understand the different needs of all students. There is no other position I have held that I value more than this opportunity to impact my community.
I attended Eastern Illinois University, on a full athletic scholarship, for my undergraduate work. I received my master’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University.
My wife Laura and I both work in B#53 and have lived within the Bourbonnais community for fifteen years. We have three wonderful children; twin girls and a boy. We also have two dogs, so our home is a busy place. I'm not sure how we would function without all of the hustle and the bustle that our family brings to our life.
My family loves to spend time enjoying the outdoors and a variety of different sports. Our daughters are volleyball players and our son plays baseball and ice hockey. We love to fish and boat and can assure you that life is better on the lake and around a campfire.
I am a firm believer that ALL students can learn and grow. The journey should be filled with mistakes that lead to some profound learning opportunities. Our team will focus on the implementation of Professional Learning Community practices to ensure quality instructional practices.
We value the support and commitment you have to our students’ education. Let’s work together to show our students that their attitude, preparation, engagement, and determination can, and will, produce a desirable outcome.

MARISSA MACIEJEWSKI
ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL
Greetings,
My name is Mrs. Maciejewski and I am entering my 6th year as Associate Principal at Liberty. I am so excited to continue my work with the Liberty team and can’t wait to meet all of our amazing students and families!
I am originally from Cissna Park, IL. I completed my undergrad at the University of Illinois, where I received my bachelor’s degree in social work. After graduating, I decided to join a program called Teach for America, which focuses on ensuring that all students have access to an excellent education.
This program led me to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I served as a special education teacher for 4 years and an administrator for 2 years. In my most recent role, I helped found a new high quality public charter school on the south side of Milwaukee. While in Milwaukee, I also completed my master's degrees in both special education and education leadership
My husband, Kevin, and I have two daughters, Faith and Piper, who have officially hit the toddler era...dun, dun, dun. They certainly keeps us on our toes and we wouldn’t have it any other way. As a family, we love anything that involves water and sunshine. We are also big fans of farmer’s markets, festivals, and parks.
It is my belief that all students have a right to feel safe and secure, and to know that they are deeply cared for by those around them. Every child is unique and every child is capable of learning at high levels.
Let’s work together to ensure your child has their best year yet!

ANDY BURTON
DEAN OF STUDENTS/ ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
Hello,
My name is Andy Burton and I am excited for another year in the Bourbonnais Elementary School District. I am honored to be working at Liberty Intermediate School, which is known for its excellent staff members and our AMAZING students.
I grew up in the area, in nearby Limestone and attended school in the Herscher School District. I graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with my Bachelor's degree in Special Education. Since then, I attended Governors State University to obtain a Master's degree in Educational Administration.
At home I can be found chasing after my 4 year old son who is always trying to avoid nap time. My family and I enjoy visiting with loved ones and staying busy.
My biggest responsibility is to advocate for our students. I will be spending time with our students, getting to know their personalities, learning styles, and interests. I will celebrate their successes, big and small. I will let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community.
I also serve as B53 Athletic Director. If you are interested in renting a space within the district or would like to learn more about our advertising packages, please contact me and I would be happy to help!
