Welcome to Alan Shepard Elementary School!

My career proudly began in education 27 years ago as an elementary teacher.  Throughout my career, I’ve worked as a primary classroom teacher, Reading Recovery teacher, dean of students, assistant principal, and principal.   I have three daughters who have attended Bourbonnais schools since kindergarten.  I'm truly grateful to work in the community I reside in.

It is my belief that all students deserve to feel safe while learning in a warm, caring, and fun environment.  I also believe that all children can learn and achieve anything they put their minds to with hard work, determination and resiliency. I am honored to be part of your child’s education and to serve this amazing school community including staff, students, and families.

Hello and welcome! I am happy to be joining Alan Shepard as the Associate Principal. I have taught physical education and health at the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels over the last 17 years. I have been a part of the BESD53 family since 2007 as a teacher and coach. My last nine years were spent at Noel LeVasseur, where I learned how much fun elementary school is! I am married, and we have three children, five dogs, one bird, and four beta fish (at the moment)! I am thrilled to be a part of the amazing Shepard team. I look forward to working alongside them to create an exciting, engaging, and accepting environment for the students. I cannot wait to celebrate the successes and accomplishments of the students this year!
