Chromebook Handout for Remote Learning

Parents/Guardians,

As the district works to provide services during this pandemic, our Technology department is working hard to make sure that every family in the district has the opportunity to access the Remote Learning Resources available through our district website (www.besd53.org). If you have a home computer, tablet, or Chromebook; your student(s) can use those to access their school Google account to complete the electronic resources. If you need your student's login information, it can be found in Skyward Family Access on the Portfolio tab.

To assist families that do not have a home device, we have allowed all 5th through 8th grade students to take their Chromebooks home. Those Chromebooks can be shared with siblings in the same household. For 1st through 4th grade students that do NOT have a sibling in 5th through 8th grade, the district has provided the Technology Needs Survey on the district website so that families could request a Chromebook. The district Kindergarten teachers have prepared packets for their students that do not require electronic access. Our goal at this point is to provide one (1) Chromebook per family where no other device is available.

Wednesday, March 18th from 8 a.m. to noon is our first scheduled handout of Chromebooks for those families. It will be at the Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center (200 W. John Casey Rd.) for those who have already completed the survey and meet the above criteria.

After completing this handout, the district Technology team will re-evaluate this process and will notify of any changes. We realize that this is a very fluid situation as the district is receiving updates on a daily basis from the state and federal governments. We appreciate your patience.
