Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!
As you can see, this summer was spent completing a $1.6 million capital improvement project funded by the sale of bonds. Parking lots at all four sites have been upgraded or replaced and visitor parking has been added in front of each school. LeVasseur had the most dramatic change, with a new dedicated loop for car-riders separate from the bus loop. They also have a new parking lot with handicap and visitor parking in front of the school. We ask for patience and cooperation as LeVasseur parents learn the new drop-off/pick-up routine. You will also find a new look to the BUGC office with open access to the lobby and a security checkpoint before entering the office. New security cameras are in place in hallways, lunchrooms, and building entrances. Our staff and students will be trained in ALICE safety which is endorsed by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security.
We welcomed back students on August 23rd and are off to a great start!
I am excited about the future of Bourbonnais Elementary School District #53. Although the state still owes us $430,000 from last year, we have weathered the storm and balanced our budgets all five years of my tenure. We have great plans for the future growth of the district. It is a great honor to work for all of you and to work with such a great staff.
"Excellence in all we do!"
