What is proficient?

English as a Second Language or ESL means specialized instruction designed to assist students whose firstlanguage is something other than English in attaining English Language Proficiency.

All families complete the HomeLanguageSurvey. If the form indicates that another language is spoken in the home, or that the student speaks another language we screen the student using a language proficiency assessment. The assessment is used to determine if the student in eligible for the program.
