Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center
The Formula for Success
Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center (BUGC) supports a Professional Learning Community concept which subdivides the large school population into small, autonomous groups of students and teachers. BUGC has four PLC teams, two at each grade level.
The primary purpose of structuring BUGC into PLCs is to create a more personalized learning environment to better meet the needs of students. Each community shares the same core teachers and student members. Teachers in each community have common planning time to allow them to develop interdisciplinary projects and keep up with the progress of their shared students.
Students conclude each day by attending a custom class (Tiger Time) following a curriculum which will focus on the intellectual, social, emotional and organizational needs of the students.
Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center has an "open door" philosophy. We encourage parents to stay active in their child’s education and volunteer in the classroom, media center and at extra-curricular activities. As volunteer opportunities become available, classroom teachers and staff will communicate with parents. Understanding this may be difficult for some due to work / other commitments; parents are always welcome to stop by when your schedule allows you to do so.
