Why SBR?

The primary purpose of this new system is to accurately report the current level of learning for each child. This level of learning is reported in relation to specific standards for each subject or course. Over time we will be adding more information about the specific standards for each subject, as well as other resources such as informational articles to help you to fully understand the system and its purpose. Please let us know if you cannot find what you are looking for, so we can add it to the site.

Work Habits Changes
Starting on January 11, 2016 at the beginning of the second semester, we are making some modifications to our Work Habits Rubrics. We have added the updated versions for all grade levels in the work habits section in the right column. Additionally,  the letter linked below will be emailed to all parents the week of January 4, 2016.

Parent Presentations
In the Spring of 2015 we shared this presentation with parents on four different evenings.

Eligibility pic
Through our Eligibility Committee we have been working on updating our School Board Policy to make sure that it is consistent with our grading philosophy, while also abiding by IESA requirements. We now have this new policy in place which you can find to the right. This new policy takes both academic achievement and work habits into account when determining eligibility. Here is the presentation which outlines the policy. Eligibility Presentation

Books Available to Borrow new
If you are interested in taking a look at one of the professional resource books we viewed as part of the development process, we would be happy to loan you one. We added the list of available books to the right. Just contact the Office of Instruction if you would like to take a look at one of them.

Chat With the Experts new
If you are interested in a lively hour of discussion related to Standards Based Grading, you might consider Twitter.  A large group of educators meet on Twitter every Wednesday night at 8:00 PM CST for a moderated chat. Typical attendees include Doug Reeves, Rick Wormelli, and Tom Guskey. Join the chat using #SBLCHAT

You can also try  #SBRCHAT which unfortunately occurs at the same time. You can look at the archive of tweets anytime and also follow regular participants of the chat group to stay in the loop
